Three detailed entries added to Marimba+Electronics Database
Detailed entries for three works have been added to the database:
- Ayehli Alexandra Gardner
- (un)selfish object Baljinder Sekhon
- The Hinchinbrook Riffs Nigel Westlake
Ayehli was written following the September 11 attacks in New York City. The soundscape used field recordings made by the composer during a sunrise at the site of the World Trade Center with hope to "transform the results of a tragedy into something more positive and beautiful."
(un)selfish object utilizes a computer program called Pure Data (similar to Max/MSP) to run a patch that tracks the marimba part. As the performer plays the marimba, the patch follows along and automatically triggers sounds. Both Ayehli and (un)selfish object are self-distributed. Links are included from their detailed information pages to direct you to the composer.
The Hinchinbrook Riffs utilize a digital delay effect (similar to Fabian Theory) but without a looping feature, making the work more straightforward to perform. Hinchinbrook uses different compositional techniques and approach to the delay effect than Fabian, resulting in a distinct composition and not a Fabian sequel.
All detailed pages of the M+ED now have Facebook and Twitter share buttons so you can easily share a composition with others!
