New works added to the Marimba+Electronics Database
Detailed entries for three compositions have been added to the database:
- Verve Chris Paul Harman
- Quaderno Flo Menezes
- White Knight and Beaver Martin Wesley-Smith
Quaderno is the first work detailed in the database that utilizes live sound creation and processing. A computer application processes the live marimba sound and also creates sound throughout the performance (Daydreams and Passacaille function in a similar manner and will soon be detailed in the database, as well). Both Verve and Quaderno are self-distributed. Links are included from their detailed information pages to direct you to the composer.
The main database page (the Basic View page) was overhauled a few days ago. Thanks to the lovely folks at Microsoft, a single, sortable table now serves as the launching pad for the entire database. By clicking on the little arrow at the top of a column, you are given the option to sort the compositions based on the content of the column you selected. Once you've found a composition you want to know more about, click the title and the Detailed Page will open for that work.
Each composition now has its own page. So if you want to share a composition with someone (maybe you think they would like to play it), you can copy the link of the Detailed Page (it looks something like: http://michaelptacin.com/medb/TitleOfComposition) and post on Twitter or Facebook or your preferred method of sharing with others!
As always if you have any questions or comments about the database, please contact me.
