I really looked forward to playing this one and it did not disappoint. I think it’s a beautiful and well done score. Made me miss being home in NC. Not a traditional set part as it’s a bluegrass oriented show. All the rods and bundles had a nice sound, along with all the effects, like covered djembe and the frame drum/floor tom. Triggers for the triangle and finger cymbals are helpful as always. Since you don’t need rack toms, take advantage of that space over the kick for some stuff, I decided that’s where the triangle/finger cymbal triggers and mounted tambo made sense.
The platform at the theater is less than four feet deep. So I had to make adjustments in place. Even using a 20” kick I had to take the front head off to have a couple extra inches of room. Sitting on the cajon is not comfortable for long stretches and it made my lack of depth even worse. My legs were at awkward angles to use the pedals and I finished the run in a lot of pain that lasted for a couple weeks.
